ServoNavi superior quality of machined surfaces

OKUMA - SERVONAVI
OKUMA has introduced the SERVONAVI application as part of the Intelligent Technology line. This application is present on all centers, lathes and multifunctional machines, increasing the quality of the executed parts, reducing the production and wear times of the machines.

ServoNavi

Our SERVONAVI is a high-precision technology that improves cycle times and accuracy when machining heavy parts. It automatically estimates table loads to adjust for the best acceleration speed to achieve faster cycle times, compensates for slide load variations, and – with optimised servo control – maintains the required CNC machining accuracies for surface quality. The function also effectively eliminates noise and vibration that may occur when machine conditions change over time. This technology can be applied on all Okuma double column, vertical, and horizontal machining centres.

High accuracy, stable machining maintained for long periods

It automatically estimates the mass loads to self-adjust for the best acceleration speed to achieve shorter cycle times, compensates for variations in sliding load, and – with optimized servo control – maintains the precision CNC machining required for superior quality of the machining surfaces.

Vibration Auto Adjustment

When aging changes machine performance, noise, vibration, crease marks, or fish scales may appear. Vibration Auto Adjustment can quickly eliminate noise and vibration even from machines with years of operation.

Machine life is also lengthened since the ball screw replacement cycle can be increased.

ServoNavi has the Vibration Auto Adjustment function that automatically adapts to different conditions to eliminate noise and vibration during processing. By eliminating vibrations, this feature increases the life of the machine and ensures superior quality to machined surfaces.

Work Weight Auto Setting

For machining centers

On table travel type machining centers, the table feed accelera-
tion with the previous system was the same regardless of weight, such as workpieces and fixtures loaded on the table.

Work Weight Auto Setting estimates the weight of the workpiece and fixture on the table and automatically sets servo parameters, including acceleration, to the optimum values. Cycle times are shortened with no changes to machining accuracy.

By automatically setting the parameters to the optimum values, this technology can achieve higher acceleration speeds and shorter working times without compromising machining accuracy.

Auto Inertia Setting

For turning centers

When chucks or workpieces are changed, inertia (inertial mass) also changes, sometimes resulting in greater positioning error.
Auto Inertia Setting estimates chuck and workpiece inertia from acceleration torque and automatically changes servo parameter settings to the optimum values so that high accuracy and stable movement can be maintained.

Reversal Spike Auto Adjustment

Slide resistance changes with length of time machine tools are utilized, and discrepancies occur with the servo parameters that were the best when the machine was first installed. This may produce crease marks at motion reversals and affect machining accuracy (part surface quality).

For example, when cutting a curved surface as shown below, there are creases from excess material when slide resistance is large and undercuts from removal of too much material when slide resistance is small. Both sometimes appear as a result of axis reversal spikes.

SERVONAVI’s Reversal Spike Auto Adjustment maintains machining accuracy by switching servo parameters to the optimum values matched to changes in slide resistance.
